How to keep keyboard backlight from turning off on Latitude E6420 (Linux installed)

I am getting a new replacement keyboard, the kind with a backlight, it hasn't arrived yet but I have seen that it turns off on a timer. I have Debian 12 installed and I've seen I need a Dell driver in order to turn off the timer. Are there any alternative options that will work for my setup? I have another desktop with Windows 10 installed, I don't know if that helps though.
