Laptop not recognizing the AC Adapter
Hello, I've had an original AC Adapter for my Dell Latitude E6530 and it had a model number of LA130PM121.
It broke about 6 months ago due to some electrical malfunction: I put it in the outlet, it made some sparks and it broke. This was due to something wrong with the building's electricity.
so I bought another one and its model number is DA130PE1-00 and it was fine. Now about a month ago, the adapter suddenly stopped being recognized even though the little blue ring lights up when you plug it in an outlet and I've tested the adapter with a multimeter and it was fine. So I thought maybe because it was used (because I couldn't find a new one where I'm at) the pin circuits that communicates with the laptop broke? I don't know.
Anyways, I bought another adapter, this one had a model number of FA90PM111 and it wasn't like the other ones. It's smaller and it says it outputs 4.62 A while the other 2 were 6.7 A.
The laptop again stopped recognizing the charger all of a sudden after about 1 month of usage. Also during the last week, I had to wiggle the cord that connects to the DC port to make it charge.
My question is, is this a charger issue or DC port/motherboard issue? I'm assuming the motherboard is fine since I can power the laptop on the battery. Also do the model numbers of chargers matter that much? I can't find a charger with the model number of
LA130PM121. All I see is DA130PE1-00. Thanks.

If you've tried multiple OEM adapters to no effect, it's either the DC jack or the charge circuit that's the issue.
Replace the jack first:

The issue you're facing with your Dell Latitude E6530 not recognizing AC adapters can be caused by a few different factors, and it's important to troubleshoot to determine the exact cause. Let's break down the possible reasons for this problem:
Charger Compatibility: Dell laptops are often sensitive to the charger's compatibility. While different chargers with varying model numbers can sometimes work, it's generally recommended to use the original or an officially compatible charger for your laptop model. Using chargers with different wattage or amperage ratings can sometimes cause problems.
Charger Quality: Cheaper or third-party chargers may not be of the same quality as the original Dell charger. This can lead to issues with charging and laptop recognition.
DC Jack or Cable Issue: The issue you mentioned about needing to wiggle the cord to make it charge suggests that there may be a problem with the laptop's DC jack or the cable connecting it to the motherboard. If the DC jack is loose or damaged, it can cause connectivity problems.
Motherboard Issue: While it's less common, there could be an issue with the laptop's motherboard that is causing the problem. However, since you can power the laptop on with the battery, it's less likely that the motherboard is the root cause.
Here are some steps to help you narrow down the issue:
Try a Different Charger: If possible, try a charger that is known to be compatible with your laptop model. This will help determine if the issue is specific to the charger you are using.
Inspect the DC Jack: Examine the DC jack on your laptop for any signs of damage or looseness. If it appears damaged or loose, it may need to be repaired or replaced.
Check the Charger Port: Ensure that the charger's plug is clean and free from debris. Sometimes, dirt or dust can accumulate in the charger port, preventing a proper connection.
Run Dell Diagnostics: Dell laptops often come with built-in diagnostics tools that can help identify hardware issues. You can access these tools by pressing a specific key during startup (often F12 or F2) and selecting the diagnostics option.
Consult a Technician: If you've tried different chargers, checked the DC jack, and run diagnostics, and the problem persists, it's a good idea to consult a professional technician. They can perform more in-depth testing to determine the exact cause of the issue.
Regarding the model numbers of chargers, while it's ideal to use the exact model recommended by Dell, some variations may still work. However, using a charger with significantly different specifications (e.g., lower wattage or amperage) can lead to problems. If you can't find an exact match for your original charger, try to get one with specifications as close as possible to the original.
In summary, it's essential to rule out charger compatibility and quality issues, inspect the DC jack and cable, and consider consulting a technician if the problem persists.
