Latitide 5400 storage options
I would like to understand the Latitude 5400 storage options.
From what I have read, there is an M.2 slot (NVMe/SATA) and a standard 2.5" (SATA) connection but that you can only use one of those at a time. I am guessing the limitation would be due to physical space.
I also read that the WWAN port can be used with an SSD but that the system can only have one NVMe drive. So, if I already have an NVMe SSD in the M.2 port, the WWAN drive would need to be SATA.
Can anyone confirm those points?

The topic has come up on the forums multiple times. Some have claimed success with an NVMe drive (albeit at greatly reduced speeds due to the low bandwidth slot), while others have reported outright failure to have a drive of either type recognized. So -- it's trial and error.
Note that even if a drive does work in the WWAN slot, it'll be storage-only -- you won't be able to boot from it (you wouldn't want that anyway given the slow speed of the interface).

Thanks for the reply. And can you help with the first part of my question? Am I limited to one storage device (choosing between M.2 and SATA), if we ignore the questionable WWAN port?

You can have either an M.2 drive or a 2.5" drive in the system -- but not both together, that is correct.

Thank you. Then I suppose USB or micro SD are the only options for additional storage.

@morjan
I'm struggling with the same problem. I am wondering if updating dell bios + ssd firmware would have any impact in recognizing ssd in wwan port.
There's also 1 more solution I'm generally not fond using.
It;s about sata 2,5" port to connect ssd disassembled from its bbbbbbbcase, to make it fit in empty space beside the main ssd in m.2 port.
