Latitude 5289 Keyboard Issue

Hi, I’ve recently purchased a second hand Latitude 5289 2 in 1.

When I got it I was having issues with the fingerprint reader, after reading online I carried out driver updates and a BIOS update to 1.29.0 which is the latest version available.

The fingerprint reader is now working fine however I have a keyboard issue.

sometimes the keyboard is not responsive at all, sometimes there’s a delay from pressing the key and then after a few seconds it will enter multiple characters as though I’ve been holding the key down.

I’ve checked the keyboard drivers are all up to date etc but am still having the issue. The onscreen touch keyboard works perfectly fine however.

I have also run diagnostics via dell support website and it doesn’t seem to run any tests on the keyboard, not sure if that’s normal?

Ive ran the diagnostics in the ePSA assessment on the keyboard and when I press each key once it shows up as 3/4 presses each time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Finally got round to purchasing a new genuine dell power adaptor and all working fine now. Thought i'd post back in case any one else has a similar issue.

Same issue, I have 4 Dell 5289 with the same keyboard problem, keyboard is not responsive pressing a key it doesn't do anything for few seconds then shows multiple of the same letter, it seems like a hardware issue with these laptops but I couldn't find a fix

Ive spent some time looking into this and have worked out that the keyboard only plays up when the laptop is plugged into charge.

Coincidentally my laptop was supplied with a non genuine USB C adaptor which is 45w rated, the one Dell list for the Latitude 5289 2 in 1 is a 90W. I suspect that its being caused by this somehow. I plan to buy the genuine adaptor soon so will report back and let you know what happens when I do.
