Latitude 5330 not recognize earphone jack
I'm using Latitude 5330 but it does not recognize my earphone jack.
My earphone is HA-FR9 from JVC and it's got a three ring (four conductor). I was using it on my old PC, Latitude 7420, but there was no issue at all.
I found this page and followed the instruction but my Latitude 5330 still does not recognize my earphone.
https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-uk/000137382/troubleshooting-headphone-microphone-jack-issues-on-dell-systems?msockid=18a204bd55de6c5b3995123b54486d5a
I also tried uninstalling the audio app and re-installed. Nothing changed.
I have a headset with USB and it works on my Latitude 5330. I don't want to use the USB head set because it's old and the sound is not good. I want my new earphone to work on my Latitude 5330. What do I do?

It sounds like your Latitude 5330 might not be properly detecting the combo audio jack (TRRS) on your JVC HA-FR9 earphones. Since you’ve already reinstalled the audio driver and followed Dell’s KB guide, here are a few more things you can try:
Check the audio driver type:
Go to Device Manager → Sound, video, and game controllers.
If you see Realtek Audio, right-click it → Update driver → Search automatically.
If it’s Intel Smart Sound or High Definition Audio, try downloading and installing the Realtek Audio Driver for the Latitude 5330 directly from Dell’s support page.
Run Waves MaxxAudio Pro:
Open the Waves MaxxAudio application (if installed).
Under the Playback tab, check if the Headset/Headphones option appears when you plug in your earphones.
Sometimes it helps to uninstall MaxxAudio, reboot, and reinstall it from Dell Support.
Try the audio popup prompt:
When you plug the earphone in, check if a popup appears asking what device you connected.
If not, open the Realtek Audio Console app (from Microsoft Store), and set the jack detection manually.
Test in BIOS diagnostics:
Restart your laptop and press F12 → select Diagnostics.
Run the audio test and check if it detects something plugged into the audio jack.
If the system doesn’t detect anything even in BIOS, it may be a hardware issue with the jack port.
If none of these steps help, I’d suggest contacting Dell Support for a hardware diagnostic — sometimes the jack assembly needs replacement on newer models.
