Latitude 5400 BIOS Update in SCCM Task Sequence

We recently started getting 5400s and 5410s in for imaging.  During our task sequence in SCCM we check the bios version and update the bios if needed.  We use the Flash64w utility from Dell which works fine on the older models but on the 5400 upgrading to BIOS version 1.9.1 it does not work.  Has anyone else seen this?

Good Morning,

I am receiving the exact same issue. Latitude 5400 bios will not install on BIOS 1.9.1. Also Dell 5410 will not work on 1.3.1. We also have a Dell Precision 3551 running BIOS version  1.2.15 and same problem. All older units and previous versions of BIOS works fine.

Did you still need a Dell Service Tag?

@tslogick

did you try it with the latest version of flash64W V3.3.8?

We had some issues in the past especially related to SMM_Security_Mitigation. It is also worth to disable SMM_Security_Mitigation before the Bios Update to check if it will work.

BTW: if i am not wrong you can enable SMM_Security_Mitigation via cctk but not disable it

Same issue at least with Latitude 5400,5410 and 5310.

Using FlashW Utility 3.3.8.

for example, error when updating Latitude 5400 from 1.7.4 to 1.9.1
