Latitude 5430 - USB type C doesn't work for 2nd display
I am using Dell Latitude 5430 and intend to connect to the 2nd display via USB-C, but it doesn't work. The USB-C port is still working for power delivery, connecting memory stick, but doesn't work with external display. Please help to suggest the solution for this case. Thank you.

You have two Thunderbolt ports - use those. They should both support external displays.
There is no documentation about the USB-C port supporting displaylink - that won't, at least not natively.

Hi,
I've had a similar issue with an IIYAMA screen that feature USB-C. I can get video from the Dell laptop if
in the bios the following option is turned ON Integrated Devices > Video/Power only on Type-C Ports > Limits Type-C port functionality to Video or Power only". Then I an get image on the monitor but USB peripherals connected to the monitor and network port (on the monitor) are not functioning. Still looking for a solution. One possible explanation from IIYAMA is that the laptop does not comply with PD (Power Delivery) 3.0 standard. I've reached out to Dell to ask them to confirm if the laptop complies with PD 3.0 or not.

Same issue, Latitude 5431, started a few days ago.
Checked different monitors, cables, ports and laptops, and the problem is definitely with both of the usb-c ports of the latitude. The problem is only for display (the monitor delivers power and keyboard but not display).
I see there're several reports from the recent week. Maybe the problem is triggered by a recent system update?

Update: for me it was solved by a hard-reset, with a particularly long press (15-20 sec) on the turn-off button, after disconnecting everything, as suggested here under "Fix 1":

I have same issue on 5430 and power button trick didn't work. I could set bios to Limit USBC to video/power only then it works. But this is not ideal because I do use wired keyboard and mouse with dock and with that setting on in BIOS, mouse/keyboard doesn't work. I tried on two other Dell laptops both of them have Limit setting in BIOS disabled but my thunderbolt external display works fine. Just on this 5430. Extremely frustrating.

I was able to get the monitor to work. I had to turn down brightness to below 50%... I guess power output is not enough. If you set bios Power/Video only, it works regardless of brightness settings.. but you can't use other devices on that port, even thru a docking station so that was not an acceptable solution.

Same Problem, i bough a special Dell adaptador as suggested by Dell's tech support.
here: DELL OFFICIAL CONVERSOR
All BIOS settings, different monitors, different cables, nothing seems to work.
USB-C ports for external monitors on this Model Lattitude 5430 doesn't work.
What to do?

I work in IT and had several users experience this issue on Latitudes 5420s and 5430s... sometimes a reboot fixes it, other times a BIOS update fixes it, and sometimes a hard reset with a longpress (20-30 seconds) does the trick. But when nothing worked for one of my users, I noticed that a setting was turned on that shouldn't have been. Check your display settings > advanced display settings and toggle to the external monitor in the drop-down at the top. Make sure that the button all the way on the bottom is toggled to off "Prevent Windows from using this display. This display will be available exclusively for special-purpose apps that require it." I have no idea why this gets randomly turned on but I have seen it twice now.

Hi to everybody,....finally I found you!!!!
I wrote yesterday a thread to describe my problem and today, looking for some info from other users (i.e. @DJDBA and @Comic_W ) , I found MANY of us with the same problem!
As all of you, even in my case the video output through type-c connectors works, no matter of what is connected.
In details, the problem arise suddenly with a latitude 5530 (always weekly updated for bios, Win11 and dell driver), by using different docking stations (2xWD15 and 1xWD19, but another user also with WD22) and also by using a type-c -> hdmi adapter.
All the rest of the "hardware" connected to the docks works well as audio, lan, usb pen, keyboard-mouse dongle, webcam,....all but no more the two monitors
Take into account that I have also tested the docks and the adapter with other two different latitude laptop, 5300 and 5420, and they work well.
So the problem seems to be something in the latitude 5x30 in the actual update configuration (for what concern bios, Win11 and Dell driver).
Being a lot of us with the same problem, at this point it could be evident that someone from DELL should come to support us, have you received some feedback?
Obviously, in the case a solution exists, it could be shared.
On the contrary, if some fixing is needed from DELL (I do not know if at level of bios or at level of driver), it could be beautiful to have it quickly and to receive some message officially from DELL
PS I suggest also all of us to click the "button" ME TOO in the post originating this thread

Hi again.
Looking for a solution, I have make this attempt and it seems to work, at least for now!
The actual last driver available on DELL SUPPORT for the graphics is the version 31.0.101.3959 and this is what I have installed in my 5530 (You can check through the details of the Device Manager in win11).
I first thinked to try to downgrade the driver, downloading always from DELL SUPPORT, the previous one, the version 30.0.101.1692. But, even installing, the driver cannot subscribe a more recent driver and the system keep the 31.0.101.3959.
So, I thinked to look for another driver on Intel website and I found a more recent one, the version 31.0.101.4091. To be more precise, this one is the WHQL. There is also another more recent 31.0.101.4125 but it is in beta version and, hence, I preferred firstly try with the certified WHQL one.
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/726609/intel-arc-iris-xe-graphics-whql-windows.html
Well, I downloaded it and installed it, rebooted the system and now it seems to work, I have "recovered" the two monitors through the docking stations,.....at least for now and for these few hours!!!!
.....hoping that this will fix for good!!!!!

So what i did was based on a suggestion here , remove the power cords from the monitors for 30 seconds - takes a while for them to "powwr down", reboot the wd15 power our of 30 seconds, reboot lappy, and then power everything back up again, and the moniors were recognised.
