Latitude 5490 LCD Screen quality

Hi All

I wondered if anyone receiving the new Latitude xx90 series laptops, have experienced poor LCD screen colour quality?.  I recently purchased a Latitude 5490 , and straight out of the box noticed the screen has an awful yellow/dirty tint to the whites.  At first I thought it was just me...until I compared to one of our Latitude 5480's

I have been working with Dell Support to resolve this issue.  I have already had 2 LCD screen replacements, with exactly the same problem - the issue is definately the LCD panels at fault.  We even moved the 5490 panel to a 5480 and the problem moved with the LCD

I also received a Latitude 7290 this morning.  It too has a slightly yellowish tint in my eyes but not as bad as the 5490 when comparing the whites.

Heres a comparison , from left to right - Latiude 5480 - Latitude 5290 - Latitude 5490.  All 100% brightness

I certainly consider the 5480 as the best display out of the 3 and and whites are white, and noticed no variation in display quality with all the other 5480's I have been purchasing over the past 6months.  I will certainly be holding off buying any further 5490's until I know this issue is/can be resolved, in hope of a faulty batch of panels or such.  I am trying to get a 5480 panel fitted to the 5490 to at least improve the display quality. I'm in the UK btw

Many thanks

Andrew

Haven't seen a 5490 in person yet and it seems I can't see the image you attached, but just to rule out an easy possible culprit, did you make sure that the Windows "Night light" feature is disabled on all systems for testing?

Thanks, thats a shame I'm sure I attached it ok!.

Night light is definitely disabled , but thanks for the suggestion.  I noticed straight out of the box (even on the Dell bios logo) that something wasn't right with the whites.

You get used to it after a while, but jumping back to a 5480 screen you realise how dirty/yellow the whites look on the 5490 affecting image colouration.  3 LCD Panels have shown the same fault , and I'm sure I'm not that unlucky!

I hope it's not a case of 'thats the way the panels are now' which I why I'm interested in others experience.

Cheers

Andrew

Hey Andrew, I just got a 5490 today, and I know it's been almost a year since you've been here, but if you go into the Intel HD Graphics settings, you can get rid of nearly all of the Yellow contrast. I also have two 5480's and they are clear as day. My screen is now 90% better after messing with the Intel settings.

Hope this helps!

Hello, Did the problem with your screen solve using the Intel HD Graphics settings? Can you make a short guidance in the detail? I have tried but there is no improvement. Many thanks

1. Make sure that Night light is definitely disabled.

2. Intel HD Graphics settings, adjusting the tone and saturation to try.

3. just replace the screen to try.

I received my Dell Latitude e5490 and this screen is so depressing, every time I look at it I realise how good e5470 screen was though not best bu surely better than this crap. Please tell if anything ca be done to improve this without replacing the screen. Or Dell can help in replacing the screen.

I'm sorry but screen replacement won't do it, this the screen and that's all.
Fortunately I was able to return the laptop to the store and to replace it with another manufacturer.
