latitude 5590 M.2 2280

Hi all,

I just buy a new latitude 5590 with HDD and now I want to change with 1TB SSD 2280 PCIe/NVMEx2 .

I am confused with the manual , I dot know if the maximum alowed it s 512 GB or 1TB.

And second,... if yes, where I can buy the spare parts for fixing the ssd 2280 . I found the references codes but nothing about the purchase place.(2FFR0, X3DN4 AND 4270E)

thank you

Currently there's no meaningful hardware-level limit on drive capacity.  The last time that happened was back in the Windows XP days when "48-bit LBA addressing" had to be supported by the motherboard/disk controller in order to use drives larger than 137GB.  Then there's the limit around not being able to use more than 2TB worth of capacity on disks that use the MBR partition layout, but the 5590 only supports UEFI booting for internal drives, and UEFI uses GPT, which doesn't have that limitation.

Any 2280 SSD will work.

For the parts, on a system this new -- Dell is likely the only source.  Call and ask for "Spare Parts".

Hello,
did anyone try this bigger SSD 2280 PCIe/NVMEx2 in the Latitude 5590 meanwhile?
I would like to get Latitude 5590, and insert a 2TB SSD, like this one: https://edvplanung.de/INTEL-SSD-660P-2TB

Anyone experiences with that?

Thanks, Popanz :-)

Meanwhile I tried a 2 TB SSD, but just a regular 2.5 inch SATA drive:
Although the Latitude 5590 owners manual claims, that the maximum capacity for the 2.5 inch SATA drive slot woud be 1 TB, I'm meanwhile using there Crucial MX500 2TB with no problems.
