Latitude 7480 keyboard issue (mostly missed keys)

Hello,

I'd like to ask if i am the only one with some issues about the Latitude 7480 keyboard (bios 1.7.3, was the same with 1.8.1 too).

if i type normal (e.g. not very slowly) some keys are missed:

if i have to type "system" it produced sytem (the s is missed). (same behavior is observed in uefi shell, or bios add boot options)

if i have to type cat .. |grep , usually the result of typing is ...|Grep (like i am keeping pressing the shift key..)

 if i have to use ctrl-shift-c / ctrl-shift-v (shortcuts for copy/paste) usually i just get C and V (e.g. ctrl missed)

using shift-ctrl-tab (to scroll between tabs / windows backward) in most cases produces just ctrl-tab (forward scroll)

this happens in linux, both console and Xorg, as well in windows (virtualized guest) and also in bios.

I am extremely unhappy to report that there is a regression on this issue with the latest 1.6.0 BIOS update on Latitude 7490. Pressing multiple keys at the same time now triggers the same behaviour as it did with the original BIOS (pre-1.4, which seemed to fix it) - missed keystrokes and random characters inserted. The keyboard was invented many decades ago, why is this still an issue in 2018? It is so absurd that it makes me think that there is something much more sinister going on, like a sloppy keystroke logger in the Intel ME interfering with my typing. Is this the case, Dell?

If this issue is not permanently resolved ASAP, I will be returning the machine for a full refund.

Do you have a similar fix for Dell Vostro 14 3468?

I don't know if this thread is still being monitored. I have a fleet of 5289's, all are updated to BIOS 1.16.0, and several are still experiencing this issue. When connected to a dock (WD15) the issue goes away. I don't believe it's a hardware issue, as it seems to be intermittent (it went away briefly when I updated to 1.16.0). Hopefully this gets resolved, as we are currently receiving shipments of 7390's, and I truly don't want to have to deal with this on an ongoing basis. This is wasting a lot of time for an issue that Dell has been aware of for over a year.

I have the same issue on new Latitude 5300 (2 in 1). The latest BIOS (1.8.1) has been flashed. But it's no luck.

Any chance to fix with the nearest BIOS update?

Thnx

I have had this happen to 2 laptops in the past a Dell Precision 7510 - which I replaced the keyboard, updated all drivers, including the bios - no change. Dell tech replaced the MB - no change, they came back out and replaced the palm rest - that worked.  2nd machine was a Lat 5450 I believe - ended up retiring that one.

Now I have 2 more Lat. 5470 laptops with the keyboard lag... just updated the drivers\bios to the latest version but of course - no change. not under warranty anymore so will just junk them, thankfully we switched to HP now! no lag in those.

Hi, I have a Latitude 7480 and have the same issue, it misses a lot of the keys randomly.

Installed the latest BIOS available but the problem persist, is there any other solution?
