Latitude 7490 mouse click issues

I have issues with 3 7490 models so far. When it connects to WD15 dock and closed lid, mouse moves but can not click on anything. If I open lid,or right click it start working for some time. Drivers updated, BIOS updated, all firmware updated for dock as well. Changed dock, also different model. Changed mouse. Re-imaged laptop and replaced system board. Problem still persist. Friend work for big company and they have similar issues with this model same as 7480's as well. Anyone experience this kind of issue or possibly have an answer?

I have this exact same issue with multiple 7490's. Switched from D6000 docks to WD15 thinking it might change something. Issue started at the exact same time too.

Have you found anything besides leaving the laptop open to correct it?

Same issue as Dima80 except for me it's happening on a Latitude 7290 with the WD15 Dell Dock. Once the lid is closed, mouse clicks become non-responsive.

Hi, I had a similar problem with mine, but most likely for a completely different reason. The battery had expanded enough to distort the frame so that when the lid was closed, one of the mouse buttons was pushed down just enough. Justin.

WOW, thank you Traces for pointing me in the right direction. A bunch of users went to a conference recently and received little slider laptop webcam covers that stick on. These covers are not letting the laptop close all the way and it is enabling the touch pad or disabling the mouse somehow.

Of the three users with the issue I have removed all the covers and they have been good for a few hours now. Dumbest fix ever for a problem I have been working on for two weeks.

I'm removing my comment as it seems my issue was due to a defective mouse.

I have the same issue only on left click and when the laptop is never docked. It just started happening.

Right click works.

USB cable connected mouse works fine!  However, that defeats purpose when travelling on plane or in airport.

I had this issue with several Dell Latitude systems in an enterprise.  After testing extensively and using workarounds of Opening the Lid or Pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete or Right-Click of the Mouse I found a solution that resolves the issue.

If you go into the touchpad settings of Win10 you can uncheck the checkbox of "Leave touchpad on when a mouse is connected." and the issue will go away.

What is happening is that the mouse/touchpad are competing for same resource to control the input and it locks the left button functionality.

Hope that helps.

Mine started after I upgraded to Windows 11 and I have not been able to get it to work.
