Assuming you used F12 to run diagnostics, did you see any battery errors? And inasmuch as the system is approaching 8 years old or so, it is very possible that the battery needs to be replaced. Genuine Dell batteries are available here.

I bought a brand new genuine Dell 51Wh replacement 2 months ago. I've just installed the Dell power manager. But it wouldn't let me do that until I removed the dell feature enhancement pack. I seen somewhere that this could cause, battery issues, similar to mine  So I've deleted the management pack. . What's you advice on the Power Manager??

Power Manager has had a number of good reviews but this forum post shows the other side of the coin. I usually dump everything when I get a new system and do not install any Dell apps/software. I like to keep the system as clean as possible and have no concerns about what software is conflicting another software.
