Latitude E5530 BIOS Update Problem, other Issues
At our school, we use +50 Latitude E5530 convertibles. We are facing a multitude of problems with these devices.
Some devices crash regularily with IRQ_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD.On one device, we performed a BIOS update to the recommended (by dell command update) version 1.14.3. After the upgrade, windows keeps crashing permanently. Powering up the device is a game of luck. After that, the BIOS complains "timezone not set". When we enter the BIOS, no keyboard ore mouse are detected and not working!
After that, we tried the downgrade by pressing ESC+STRG, but that is not possible anymore! We managed to do the downgrade to 1.13 by restoring Windows but then Windows ist only starting normally once. After re-installing all drivers, the device can't be powered on anymore!
Other (still working) devices have problems with external 4k displays. When plugged in, the external monitor shows a picture, but the internal display gets black as soon as you select "mirrored screen". Only with extended screen the internal display is on. That is not usable at our school, since you cannot draw with the pen on the extended screen!
The next problem is with the use of our USB-C docking stations (LENOVO USB-C dock Gen3). The USB-C connector in den Insiprion E5530 sits quite deep in the case, so the USB-C-cable has to be plugged in very tight to get the display-lines connected (mostly). Also charging works not properly with the power-supply of the docking station. When the notebook is chared, the docking station can charge the device but when the battery is down, you have to use the original DELL power-supply to get the notebook startet. After that, it charges over the USB-dock! It won't start with any another brand usb-c power supply.

Sorry, Typo. It's a DELL Latitude 5320, not 5530. I had no actual device present but only the reports f my colleagues.
It hit 5 of out 50 Latitudes, but fortunately a colleague managed to fix all of them by downgrading that bloody BIOS to 1.13 again. But we had to open the cases, unplug the main batteries, start with the power supply and then the quick uninstall of the faulty BIOS before Windows crashed again. Mostly it took several attempts to start the notebook (and the start was extremely slow sometimes).

Hi B-Spi:
The Latitude E5530 convertible was not mentioned in Sergui Gatlan's 21-Dec-2021 BleepingComputer.com article New Dell BIOS Updates Cause Laptops and Desktops Not to Boot but if Dell Command Update pushed out the same buggy BIOS v1.14.3 to your model then it's possible you might find some helpful information there. Note that the support pages for the Latitude 5320 and Latitude 5520 mentioned in that BleepingComputer.com article are currently recommending BIOS v1.13.0 (rel. 11-Nov-2021) so it appears the BIOS v1.14.3 update was pulled from the Dell update servers for both those models.
From Sergui's BleepingComputer.com article:
When you say "Latitude E5530 convertible" do you mean that this is a 2-in-1 model that can be used in tablet mode? The Drivers & Downloads tab of the support page for the Latitude E5530 at https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/latitude-e5530/drivers lists a different Axx series of BIOS updates (e.g., Dell Latitude E5530 System BIOS A21, released 09-Jan-2019) and is not a 2-in-1 model so I assume this not the correct support page for your Latitude E5530 convertibles that are being used in a business environment. I own a Dell Inspiron laptop and do not use Dell Command Update so hopefully one of the Latitude users will be able to provide further insight.
