Latitude E5530 eGPU Whitelist

Will I be able to run it with ExpressCard? Actually, I do this kind of thing because I love it.

There is no whitelist, because there is no support for an eGPU on this system from Dell -- the only systems Dell sells with eGPU support are those Alienware systems with AGA support.

Even with an ExpressCard adapter, the slot will hamstring the eGPU because it's not designed for a high bandwidth graphics adapter.  Same for any internal mini-PCIe adapter (along with the disadvantage that it'll immobilize your system).

If you need a better GPU, you need a new system -- notebook or desktop.

As long as your eGPU Expresscard works, and you have an external monitor, it should work.  You can't back-feed the video into the system, so the internal display won't work.

@Justforday  ExpressCard is likely to create a significant bottleneck.  ExpressCard only required PCIe 1.0, with PCIe 2.0 support only introduced as optional with the ExpressCard 2.0 standard, and it also only exposes a PCIe x1 interface.  By comparison, the Thunderbolt 3 interface much more commonly used for eGPUs uses PCIe 3.0 and requires an x2 interface while making an x4 interface optional.  That means a TB3-based eGPU would have anywhere from 4x to 16x more bandwidth, depending on which ExpressCard and TB3 setups you're comparing.

That said, it does appear that some people have gotten ExpressCard eGPUs to work.  But I seriously doubt you have a "whitelist" here.  eGPUs didn't even exist when that system was introduced, so it wouldn't make sense for it to have a whitelist for eGPUs or enclosures.  Where did you find that in your research?
