Latitude E6410 - Software and Firmware
Hi all
I recently purchased a Latitude E6410. It came without Hard Drive (I was told so) and I have the Windows 7 stick on the back and got a copy of Windows that I will install, but also no discs that normally come with new laptops with some software and firmware.
Three questions:
1 - Is it possible to purchase the missing software disks ?
2 - Is it possible to find out the list of software that came originally with this laptop ?
3 - Is it possible to know if any kind of MS Office was purchased with it and its details ?
With the service tag I found my laptop on the Dell support server but could not find anything about the Office. If I am well informed only the original invoice will have that information but no way I can get it as its an old laptop already.
If someone could help me out I would really appreciate.
All the best
Stilicho

The Dell OS Recovery Tool may work with the system's service tag to download Windows 7 Pro:

It will not work for Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office would have came with a 25 digit MPI card with a unique 25 digit Product Key. Unfortunately neither Dell nor Microsoft keep a record of this key so once the card is lost they will be unlikely to help you.

Hi there
Many thanks for the help.
Only with the initial invoice and registration can everything be recovered, including the MS Office that came with it, something I do not have.
Everything else in the process of getting it.
All the best

Hi Philip
Many thanks for your reply. I did not yet finished to read all the details but (see my other post) I got the Laptop running with Windows 7 Pro and the key that was in the back of the computer. Unfortunately for the Office it was a lost cause.
I bought this laptop used and no papers or disks of any kind with it, so there was not much I could do. I was told that it had an Office too and that was above all what I was trying to get as I badly need an Office for it.
I will go through all of your post and I certainly do everything I can that might be useful in the future, should the need arise
All the bast

Without the original MPI there's not too much you can do regarding Office. If the seller has falsely sold you a laptop with Office you might want to return the unit and ask for a refund. I've noticed some eBay sellers etc. put Office volume license on laptops when they sell them (strictly they shouldn't do this) and the key is not recoverable in such instances.

You might be able to recover the Office key using Belarc Advisor
