Latitude E6420 BIOS A25

Recently purchased a laptop on eBay. Running Win10-64bit.

I have a few of these that run well. This one sees the SD card but won't read the card.

Is there a driver I'm missing?

I would not even call that "seeing the card".

Yeah, Device Manager should not look like that. Missing Card-Reader Drivers or maybe even ChipSet-Drivers.

You are correct to suspect a missing driver! Especially if you got the machine off of Ebay, there is a chance that the device either had that function disabled/removed for use, or may have just not been updated as frequently as it should have.

We should start by running the Dell Command Update program to verify the system is up to date. If we are still having issues with the device reading SD cards, then we may need to factory reimage the machine to restore default permissions and possibly realign the SD card reader software.

If we are still seeing issues at that point, it would be a good idea to contact us for some hardware support to try and get some replacement parts to resolve your issue.

@Dell-Andru D Is it possible he does not have that device on his system. I would uninstall the MC Reader (and check the box) and reboot.

Then try to install this driver:

Hope and a prayer.

@Maxd1 The driver update is a good suggestion! Currently, since the device sees the SD card in the slot, like it sees the hard drive and optical disk, it would seem the SD card is functioning to a degree. If they did not have the hardware on this system, it wouldn't recognize the SD card as connected at all.
Since it can see the card but can't read the content, it would seem there is something within the software preventing it from being fully accessed. If the specific driver you suggested doesn't resolve the issue, then we may want to run Dell Command Update to ensure the BIOS and other affected drivers are updated as well.
