Latitude XT3 control vault firmware failed
When the control vault firmware was at approximately 75% the laptop became unresponsive and the hard drive light was on solid. I left the laptop overnight and there was no change so I turned it off with the power button. Now when I try to start the laptop, the keyboard and mouse stop responding after 15 seconds and after 20 seconds, the network and battery lights come on and the hard drive light flashes 21 times then remains solid and the network light turns off. I can enter the bios but don't have time to change settings, windows starts to load and the hard drive seems to work fine, I can boot to usb and I can enter hardware diagnostics but everythig stops after 20 seconds. I am assuming that this is caused by the broadcom chip that was being flashed. Is there a way to disable this chip to allow the laptop to boot so I can try reflashing the firmware or can the chip be flashed with a programmer.

After pushing power button, continue to tap CTRL ALT and DEL until the laptop reboots several times. It will then get past the point where it crashes and you can access bios and operating system. I reinstalled Windows with flash drive and am working on repairing control vault firmware. If the laptop restarts it boots up normally, but if it shuts down you need to repeat the button tapping to get it to boot.

Exact problem just occurred with my XT3 windows 10. Did you find a solution. Remove the fingerprint reader? Mother boards are about 40 dollars so might start off with that.

To repair control vault, I installed Windows 7 (64 bit), then installed the control vault driver (CV_Drv_Setup_8THGX_A10_64bit_ZPE) and finally installed the firmware (CV_Setup_TJ9CD_A29_ZPE). After that I reinstalled Windows 10 and everything works properly.

THANK YOU for your post! I had the same experience yesterday and assumed that I had bricked my XT3. I did not know what to do and was thinking about having it repaired or buying a new computer. But a specific search led me to your post which was exactly what happened to me. Your solution worked perfectly and my XT3 is now running happily again!
Posts like yours are so valuable. I am happy that you shared your solution. I try do that too whenever I have found a solution for something. Sharing solutions makes the world a better place IMO.
Thanks again!!
