Latiude E7450 Fan Replacement
Latitude E7450
Dear All,
I am trying to replace the fan of my E7450. According to the Dell documentation it is quite easy:
On my E7450 it looks quite different. It seems that a cover needs to be removed before the fan can be replaced. I have no idea how to remove this cover:
Any idea or suggestion is highly appreciated.
Thank you - Bernd

Dell Latitude E7450 Owner's Manual says that once you remove the battery and base cover, which you appear to have done, to remove the fan you disconnect the fan cable from the motherboard connector, remove two screws and then lift out the fan.
If you cannot remove it, then you may need to remove the heat sink, which requires removing the keyboard, palmrest, display, etc.
Given the laptop's age, you should remove old thermal compound and apply fresh, and install a new CMOS battery. Do a thorough cleaning, as there is likely dust inside.
Whenever touching components or working inside a computer, wear a grounded wrist strap, also called anti-static wrist strap, ESD wrist strap, or ground bracelet. It's a cheap and sensible precaution. Rest the laptop on an anti-static mat or at least a reasonable alternative such as corrugated cardboard.

If your system has a discrete (nVidia) GPU, the heatsink and fan are a single unit. That does not appear to be a cover -- the base assembly for the discrete GPU is different for the one on the integrated-graphics system. It's likely the assembly needs to be removed from the top rather than the bottom, meaning the mainboard will have to be removed.
Instructions for system disassembly are in the manual:
