microphone not working on Dell E5520 (windows 10)
Hello.
I have a problem with my E5520 with win 10. yes, I know win 10 is not supported. And there are many more users with the same problem.
My windows 10 control panel doesn't show any audio input devices at all.
I have downloaded the IDT audio driver from the dell site. But when I right-click "setup.exe"I get a windows UAC warning.
It reports: This app has been blocked for your security. You are not allowed to execute this app. consult your administrator.
I switched off UAC by sliding the marker all the way down. Firewall has been switched off. All users have granted access on the file: setup.exe. All security related options have been switched off. rebooted the laptop, but still the same problem.
Is this something you can help me with, or should i contact a Microsoft Windows 10 forum for this ?

Try this, go to the Sounds properties and right click in the Recording tab and select disabled/disconnected devices and see if the mic array is hidden there. If it is, enable it. Make sure the IDT audio driver is installed. Should say IDT High Definition somewhere on the tab, as in the pic below.
If that doesn't work then have a look at this Dell troubleshooting article.

Hello AdriaG001. Thanks for your reply.
I figured it out what my problem was. My useraccount has administrator privileges, but that was not enough to install the IDT audio driver.
I turns out that my built-in admin account was disabled. I enabled it, logged in as administrator and now i can install the dell IDT driver.
Now my microphone works.
