my Dell Latitude e6440 shuts down randomly often

Boot the laptop.

Quickly tap F12 multiple times.

Run Dell Diagnostics.

I suspect a hardware problem that no software is going to fix.

This is happening to 7 newly purchased rebuilt E6440 laptops in our school district.  I would like to know if there is a fix.

I have five Latitude E6440 laptops with Windows 10. I have disabled the power management shutdown feature, followed all of the instructions on the support website, and I have updated them BIOS on all of them. They all shut off randomly and randomly get low battery errors. Removing the battery does not have an effect either. Dell needs to fix the issue. It is a problem with the BIOS getting invalid readings. 

Any solution for this problem yet?  I´m having the same problem.  Thanks.

We are having the SAME exact problem with our 4 Dell E6440 laptops. We even did a FRESH/CLEAN install of Windows 10 Pro (by booting from a USB flash drive with an install of Win 10 Pro), wiped all the SSD's in all our laptops blank, booted from the USB flash drive and installed a CLEAN (not a reset) install of Win 10 Pro on all our laptops. Installed the newst BIOS rev A24, installed the Audio driver, Intel graphics driver and O2 Card reader driver from your support website. Then we connected to the WiFi, to finish installing the rest of the drivers and security updates.

FRESH clean install of all BIOS and hardware and all the laptops STILL shut down randomly. It looks like they're going into HIBERNATION mode most of the time - randomly and all by themselves.

So, we went into the DOS Command Prompt (Administrator Mode) and issued the command...

C:> powercfg /hibernate off

To turn hibernation mode completely off in Windows 10. That "seemed" to help, but all the laptops STILL shutdown randomly. We tried turning S3 Sleep mode OFF in the BIOS. STILL random shutdowns in Win 10.

We have some expert System Analysts here and they don't know what's going on! PLEASE fix this problem.

I analized the problem and I supposed that is a problem of communication between the battery and the system. On an other forum a guy solved the problem disabled completly the ACPI drivers of windows, but he lost the battery status.

I would like to know if all of you have a OEM battery or you substituited it with a compatible one.

I have the same problem, the computer is completly updated. The installed battery is a Green Cell Standard T54FJ.

I've purchased a rebuilt dell latitude E6440, fresh windows installation and have the same problem, suddenly the laptop reestart without any advise, is there any fix fir this issue?

Without knowing what the problem is, who knows what should be done?

I disabled the ACPI drivers of Windows (in Device Manager). I lost the battery status in Windows, but now it work.

The battery LED on the laptop continue to work, so I charge the PC when it blink orange.

I think that the problem is the after maket battery that has more capacity of the original one. I had the problem when the notebook was compleatly full of charge.

Hi there, I bought the same Dell model a year ago (on second-hand market), it comes without HDD or even RAM cards, so  I "built it" by my own taste, actually I installed an SSD drive on the mini PCI port, the first time that I use it I've got installed W10 1903 compilation, and this error never occurs, I've experienced this miss function after I upgraded my machine to W10 2000's compilations, so I decided to install Linux based distros, I give a try to Arch Linux, ubuntu, open suse, ubuntu, and pop os, I'd never got this kind of miss functions on Linux, my work distro is pop os on 21.04 version along with W10 installation.

My dell never turns off on Linux, but in windows 10 yes, I've installed all drivers on windows, but I guess that problem could be a result of some kind of incompatibility between a driver and windows, it might be ACPI driver so, also I deactivate c states on bios, that reduces, in my case, the number of reboots that I get on windows.

The only noticeable issue on Linux is that it may lose connection with the battery driver, but it recovers it with plug it into a power supply.

On windows also see that when the pc is plugged for a long time, it tends to reboot itself quite often, working on battery, the pc never turns off.

Also, it could be a bug on bios.
