Update TB16 dock firmware

Hello, I need to update the TB16 dock firmware using a Latitude 5400 (the dock will be used for another laptop) and to do this I am following this procedure: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000139915/dell-thunderbolt-dock-tb16-firmware-update-procedure , Hence, I updated the BIOS of my laptop but the actual dock update process stops before beginning since the installation utility gives an error saying "Collecting dock information failed". Is there any way I can fix this. I really need to update this firmware. Thanks for the help.
