No one can be definitive without knowing the system model, but unless the system you have had the Extreme Edition CPU as a purchase option, the odds of success are low.  If the system does not recognize the CPU, it may not POST at all.  

Even if the system does POST with the EE CPU installed, the additional 20W needed by the Extreme CPU will cause heat issues -- and may even overwhelm the voltage regulators on the system board (the latter being a particular concern given that the system in question, whatever model it is, is around eight years old to begin with).
