Upgrade RAM on Latitude 3301
Hello
The current situation
Laptop mode: Latitude: 3301
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8265U CPU @ 1.60GHz 1.80 GHz
Installed RAM size: 8GB
What I would like to do
I would like to increase my RAM size to 16GB. The reason is so that on Hyper-V Manager, I can run a virtual machine. Currently, I cannot free up enough storage space on my laptop for the virtual machine to boot up successfully - but now I am getting a bit off topic.
I have some prior experience in replacing an 8GB RAM card with 16GB in DELL laptops, and I already know someone who can help me with that if I need it.
Research I have done
I am aware that "The system memory (RAM) cannot be upgraded on certain Dell laptops because the system memory (RAM) is integrated into the system board." (see Reference 1)
I have searched on DELL to find out if the RAM on Latitude 3301 is integrated or not.
2 places that I searched:
- the Dell Latitude 3301 Service Manual (see Reference 2) - The only section I found relevant to the RAM about "Intel Optane memory"
- Dell latitude memory compatibility guide (see Reference 3) - "Latitude 3301" model doesn't appear in the Model Compatibility Matrix
So far I haven't found a clear answer.
I just want a straight-forward to the point answer to my question here:
Can the system memory (RAM) be upgraded on a Dell Latitude 3301 laptop? Yes or No.
If yes, then can I replace the 8GB RAM with a 16GB RAM card, or can it be only done a different way?
Regards,
George T

@nyc10036 is spot on. This page from the specs clearly states the RAM is soldered down (page 12 of the specs). The answer you are looking for is a definite No.

I went to Crucial.com
It appears that the RAM is not upgradeable.

Thank you. I got to this same answer eventually, but kept looking hoping I was wrong.
I wish this answer that the product I was purchasing would be non-upgradable. Another useless BRICK produced by Dell.

Seems like correct answers from everyone; and thank you for that. No thanks to Dell for creating another useless Product!

This is becoming increasingly common in the quest for thin laptops, especially on 13" size.
