Upgradeable operating system for Latitude E6420, E6430
For my previous discussion I was able to get Windows 10 in both E6420s. I was wondering if the E6420 and E6430 can be upgraded to Windows 11 if that's possible.
Specs of E6420: i7 2620m, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Intel HD 3000 and NVIDIA NVS 4200M, Windows 10 Pro 64
Specs of E6420 (another one, same specs but different CPU): i7 2640m, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Intel HD 3000 and NVIDIA NVS 4200M, Windows 10 Pro 64
Specs of E6430: i5 3360m, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Intel HD 4000 and NVIDIA NVS 5200M, Windows 10 Pro 64

You may be able install Windows 11 by bypassing the CPU check -- for now, that will work. There's no way to install Windows 11 as officially supported, so once Microsoft starts enforcing the CPU check, the system will cease receiving updates.
The bare minimum for Windows 11 support is an 8th gen CPU, and within the not to distant future it'll become an 11th gen.

@ejn63
Thanks. I think the E6420 and E6430 will stay at Windows 10, maximum power reached!

@ejn63 On Windows 11 CPU compatibility, that 11th gen or higher CPU is only used for OEMs building new PCs. Intel 8th gen CPU still works for Windows 11 even for the future.

No, that's not (entirely) correct. Microsoft officially supports Windows 11 24H2 only on 11th gen and up CPUs -- it does work for now on older ones for now but isn't supported. It's very likely that as more releases arrive, the 11th gen requirement will become the CPU floor going forward.

@ejn63 I saw the Windows 11 24H2 CPU list and saw the 8th, 9th and 10th gen CPUs came back. It might be possible for these CPUs to upgrade to a higher release of Windows 11.
