Why does BIOS settings not have installed hard drive information?
My distant friends laptop doesn't boot to windows and I was trying to see if the laptop recognizes any hard drive. Bios does not show any details on installed drive...seems to be the new trend or something with all the newer Latitudes. Attempting to reinstall with recovery USB but wanted to vent about this issue....and see if anyone knows how to see information of installed drives...

It’s never a bad idea to identify the exact system model you’re talking about when asking questions like this. But if Chris’ post above doesn’t help, the Latitude systems I’ve worked with recently all have a “System Information/Summary” section at the top of the hierarchical list of the BIOS Setup interface, and the info there includes storage devices. If you’re not seeing a storage device in an area where you should be, then perhaps there’s an issue with the storage device or the port/slot on the motherboard that it’s using? Or maybe it just needs to be removed and reseated?
