Windows 10 Microsoft Store Popup DCU.Centennial
I have a new Windows 10 machine at work.
The machine is a brand new Dell Latitude 7490 with Windows 10 installed.
About twice a day I get a popup asking me to go to the Microsoft Store and find the application that will open the file “DCU.Centennial”.
The pop-up says “You will need a new app to open this DCU.Centennial” and suggest going to the Microsoft Store to find the app.
Unfortunately, I cannot get a screenshot of the popup because as soon as I click anywhere on the desktop, the pop-up goes away.
Would this have anything to do with the Dell Command Update process?
The tech team at work says they have seen this on other machines.
Does anyone know what this is and why it is happening and what should be done about it?

I have the same error message of DCU. Centennial could not connected.
I uninstalled Update for Windows 10 yesterday. I have never seen it yet.
Thank you very much!

Same issue started in 23, Dec 2019 with my Dell XPS 15 9570
About two to three times in daily basis I get a popup, it's distracting and cannot find a solution. I believe it's a common problem with dell users only.
We hope to pay attention to this issue and find a solution as soon as possible.

Ran a Windows 10 update and the pop up went away.
Start > Settings > Update & Security > Check for Updates
Updated windows to 1909 and after restart, no pop up.

This is a Dell Command Update issue. Just download the latest version of it and run an check/update with it and the popup should go away. You may need to uninstall the corrupt version first.

We have the same problem on one Windows 10 version 1909. We uninstalled DCU application, downloaded the DCU version on Dell support site, and installed it last week. It was fine for a few days but today the same message popped up.

Error I get: dcu.centennial://toasthandler/create/newupdatestodownload
Corrected this issue by running the Windows10 Debloater powershell script. Using this method is in my opinion a workaround and not a fix. The error could reappear again after applying future updates.
https://github.com/Sycnex/Windows10Debloater
NOTE: Requires admin rights to use Powershell
Most users will want to use the GUI version of the debloater script
Don't forget to set Powershell to Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Force
*** Steps ***
1. Download the Windows10Debloater powershell script and unzip into a directory of your choosing. I use c:\temp
2. Open powershell with admin rights
3. Set powershell to execution policy to unrestricted
- example command PS C:\temp> Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Force
4. In poweshell, navigate to the location the script is saved at
- example command PS C:\temp> cd C:\Temp\Windows10Debloater-master
5. Execute the script
- example command PS C:\temp\Windows10Debloater-master> .\Windows10DebloaterGUI.ps1
NOTE: don't forget the .\ in front of the Windows10DebloaterGUI.ps1 or the script will fail with an error
6. A dialog box will appear, for most cases select the Remove All Bloatware button
7. Optional, I also use the Remove Bloatware Regkeys button also
8. Reboot is required
Other: After some Windows updates are installed, some previously removed items will be reenabled or partially reenabled and make it necessary to run the W10 Debloater script again

I had three Dell Optiplex 5060 with the same DCU.Centennial message. I ran the specific updates below and the problem seems to be resolved.
Feature update to Windows 10, version 1909
2020-02 Cumulative Update for .NET framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10 Version 1903 for x64 (KB4537572)
2020-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1903 for x64-based Systems (KB4532693)
2020-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based system (KB4535996)
It is highly recommended for the reader to do the same in order for the message to go away.
I'll keep you posted in case the message reappears.

Same issues with a newer Precision laptop.
User had two versions of DCU installed, DCU and DCU for Win 10
Resolved issue by uninstalling both versions and reinstalling fresh
Once installed run updates and only install DCU update if there is one

This seems to occur when the local user does not have local administrator rights. Every time there is another update, this popup will repeatedly occur. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with an error in Dell Command, but rather the registry needs to be updated for the current version to be able to run without local administrator rights, preferably through GPO updates.

I am the original poster of this issue. Not sure what I did, but somewhere along the way, between routine DELL updates and Windows updates the issue went away. At least over a year ago in late 2019 as far as I know.
