WM126, receiver "Device Status: Inactive"

I have a WM126 wireless mouse which I have paired with my work laptop using the universal receiver. It worked great so I ordered an additional receiver for my home laptop so I could use the mouse on the home laptop when the work laptop was off. I then paired the mouse with the home laptop and it worked fine. However when I then try and use the mouse on the work laptop, it now shows the mouse is inactive and the only way to get it to work it to delete the mouse and repair it. Surely it must be possible to pair the device to 2 laptops especially as the website says the addition receiver can be used to pair a device on another laptop.
