Broadcom driver problem on Poweredge 1950 usinmg Debian Etch

I've successfully installed Etch on a 1950, and the network appears to be set up correctly. I can ping the server from all parts of the network, but I can't ping anything from the server itself (even its own Gateway). If it do and arp -a, it displays the IP of the gateway, but the MAC address is empty and its says "incomplete entry". I installed first using CD1 of amd64. kernel 2.6.8 Then I tried using i386 install and upgraded from 2.6.8 to 2.6.18 any ideas?

    Just throwing out some ideas...

When you ping the server from another box and do an arp -a from the server you pinged from, is the MAC address correct?

If you're plugged into a managed switch, is the correct MAC address shown for the switchport the server is plugged into?

When you run ifconfig do you see RX and TX packets? Any errors?

Does the kernel buffer (dmesg can show this if you're remote and can't see the console) show any link down/up messages?

    Hope you figure it out.
