Dell XPS 9350 - Ubuntu 16.04
Hello,
Just to give you some feedbacks of Ubuntu 16.04 on Dell XPS 9350 (no touch screen)
I just install Ubuntu 16.04 on dell XPS 9350 and for the moment everything seems to work out of the box.
Bios settings:
Switch to AHCI in BIOS settings
Disable secure boot.
Wireless is working without custom kernel.
Question: Where can i found the amazing boot splash from previous Dell XPS developper edition?
Regards,

Hey, this is great news! I'll try the 4.8 kernel tonight. Though, it's still in release candidate stage last I looked.
Which adapter are you using, if you don't mind me asking?

I was not able to get 4k@60Hz to work with an external monitor until the 4.8 kernel. There is still a lot of churn in the intel graphics drivers and much of the skylake power management is still not working well for me. But I do get 4K@60Hz now.
The biggest problems I have now are suspend/resume and shutdown not working.
EDIT: I should clarify that I am using the non-developer edition 9350

I am running 4.8-rc4 with this USB C to DP adapter: https://store.google.com/product/usb_type_c_to_displayport_cable
As I said earlier, the power management is not there yet (I get a bit of a hum from low fan speeds and suspend and shutdown hang the kernel).

Hi,
I have tried multiple DP adapters in Ubuntu 14.04/16.04 and none of them worked.
Just to be clear. I have being able to use USBC-HDMI (4k at 30hz) but not USBC-DP (same experience than you).
There is another thread about your specific question which we could use to keep focus on the specific scenario. http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/os-applications/f/4613/t/19988851
Please post your findings and questions there instead.
Thanks!

I just tried 4.8rc4 with no luck. I'm beginning to think it's the adapter so I ordered the one you've got. Should be here in a week or two.
I'm able to get a picture, it just flickers incessantly every fifteen or so seconds.

I'm currently running 16.04 LTS on 4.8rc3.
Like some others, when using a Thunderbolt 3/USB-C to DisplayPort adapter, I get a picture for a bit, but then flickers to black, then back to the picture, then back to black. It flickers inconsistently every fifteen or so seconds back and forth. I was thinking it may be the adapter so I ordered the Google one that I've read had better success. We'll see.
Did you find anything out about the DisplayPort?

I'm having same issue as you on Dell XPS 15 9550, Ubuntu 20.04. Did you ever got a change to fix this issue?
