Latitude 5430 on Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS with WD19 Dock & Ubuntu 23.04 Support

Hi,

Recommended BIOS, command configure and dock firmware are all installed.

Problem 1: Dock connected to laptop via either Thunderbolt 3 or USB 3.0C port: splash screen will flash on/off multiple times on boot with non-fatal errors and sometimes dock ethernet peripherals (connected ethernet) may not be visible/available when it does boot. Switching ports to the USB 3.0 after boot usually recognises the dock ethernet. Thunderbolt 3 port is worse.

Problem 2: Applications store error: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freedesktop.fwupd: Unit snap.fwupd.fwupdservice not found. Apps can still be installed so not sure what effect this is having.

Please advise potential solutions: Ubuntu / BIOS setup / other?

Note, I originally tried Ubuntu 23.04 but this caused continuous fatal errors upon the first or second reboot via the dock so eventually I rolled back to 20.04 which Dell and Canonical say is supported. Not sure if it the 23.04 kernel, or lagging Dell support for newer distros is the issue (when will this situation improve)?

To receive assistance from Dell support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Click the "Get help now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. Provide to them the private Service Tag and all of your troubleshooting.
