Mozila Firefox not working but internet connection is ok
hi, the mozila firefox in SuseLinux is not working while I'm sure that the internet connection is alright as I can still sign in to my skype account and chatting.
I have changed my proxy setting to 'direct connection'. What can I do to find out the firewall setting?
Any suggestion?

If that works fine, and google appears in text-format, click the SuSe button(bottom left) -> "Applications" -> "System" -> "Administrator Settings(YaST)"
If asked, enter your root password.
When the "YaST Control Center" window appears, click "Security and Users" -> "Firewall".
In the "Firewall Configuration: Start-Up" window, select "Manually" and click "Stop Firewall Now". Then click "Next" -> "Accept".
From a Konsole window, type "firefox google.com".
If it works, you're done. If nothing loads, check the Konsole window for any warning/errors firefox might have given.
If you still can't get any sites to load in firefox, check firefox's settings - try setting the "Connection Settings to "Auto-detect proxy settings for this network"...?

P.S - could you tell us a bit more about your setup - how do you connect to the internet(wifi/ethernet/usb)?
What version of SuSE? openSuSE or SLES?

Please try the second part of my post - configuring the SuSE firewall via YaST...
Although I am wondering why you are using SuSE 9.3? Seems a bit odd to be using a dated version...
Ok - enough scowling lol.
Type "route" into a konsole and paste the output here.
it should look something like this:

Another thing that might come into question is - HOW did you install firefox? Was it pre-installed(or one of the SuSE packages?) or did you compile it from source?
