Request: XPS-13 Developer Edition Configurations
I'd like to buy the new XPS-13 developer edition. But Dell doesn't provide the configuration I want in the USA, though it is available in other areas or with Windows not Ubuntu.
1st choice config: FHD screen, i7 CPU, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD
2nd choice is like 1st, but with i5 CPU.
The problem is, currently if you want an i7 processor or big SSD, you have to get the QHD screen. I don't want the QHD screen because (1) Shorter battery life, (2) Want the same resolution on the built-in screen as my big monitor, which is 1920x1080, (3) FHD screen goes brighter, (4) I don't like touch screens, (5) more expensive.
So this request is: please offer the i7 processor and 256 GB SSD with the FHD screen. Thanks!

Similar thing goes on in Italy (or whole EU?) as well, I would love to get the QHD/i5/256GB, but the only option you have if you want the developer edition with a QHD screen is to buy the top-of-the-line model (i7/512GB) which is quite expensive at 1529€.
Thanks!

Barton, as long as you're collection feedback, please tally a vote for an optional 256GB drive to swap out the 128GB one on the existing $949 platform.
Even without such an option, I'd still choose the $949 machine over anything else out there today (including any of the MacBook Airs).
Dell and your Sputnik team should be applauded and encouraged in what you're doing, and hope you can keep it going with even more configuration options in the future.

I created an account just to add that I want this configuration too. Please have a non-touch + i7/larger SSD option as touch is not a must for development.

I'll also throw in a vote for more non-touch configurations, I would rather use the power on driving an i7.
FHD (no touch), i7/i5, 8Gb, 256Gb
Thanks for the great work you guys are doing!

This is exciting - looks like lots of folks (like me) want the FHD screen with the i7 processor and bigger SSD.
With this strong demand it seems more likely Dell will make it available!

Count me as another vote for the FHD (non-touch) display, i5 processor, 8 GB, and 256 GB disk.
I would purchase that immediately were it available.

I vote for a FHD, non-touch display along with an i5 processor, 8GB RAM and 256 DB disk.
@Barton George - On a related note, how does Dell take such feedback and what time-lines do you typically work on in responding with product changes?

Hi Madhavanm,
I recently compiled all the config requests and turned them into our product team. We are limited to the number of configs we can have so will swap out our least popular config with a requested on.
We take in feedback and use it to build cases with the various teams. Sometimes we have better luck than others :) Of course if we get enough feedback as in the case of people asking for official Precision M3800 we act on it more quickly.
thanks again for your feedback.

Hi Barton,
When I bought the M3800 DE recently it's got the 30%ish discount, like for the windows version. Now however, the fully configurable option (only place where one can select Ubuntu as OS) costs $900+ more than the windows versions (and same h/w config) - which effectively means nobody is going to buy it.

I assume this is an error? A colleague would buy the machine right away, but is effectively blocked.
