I'm seeing many of the issues you've described under Ubuntu 22.04 on the Precision 5680's and Precision 5690's too. Recent firmware updates have honestly just made the situation worse under 22.04. Too bad my company has settled on 22.04 because as you said, 24.04 does fix some of these problems. I wish Dell hardware had a "Linux Compatibility Mode" like Lenovo has in their BIOSes on Thinkpads.  Linux has a large enough desktop marketshare especially in the engineering and technical fields that Dell should actively do some sort of hardware testing and validation. I guess Linux is just not their priority at the moment.

Guys, I am with you! Very slow unlock (I think it's related to the fingerprint driver - when I disabled it was quick - but haven't tested this properly) and camera not working on a Dell 9315 on Ubuntu 24.04

Here's an idea. Why don't you try a better distro? Currently there's 9 better options ahead of Ubuntu on Distrowatch. Instead, you went with an another corporate beast like Microsoft? Personally I would recommend Linux Mint. It just works! As long as you keep using Ubuntu, you will only continue to have more issues.

@AubieChuck camera aside, that I bought another one separately since the one that comes with the laptop is not great anyway, everything works fine for me now with Ubuntu.

@Fran65 That's cool. Glad it works for you. Ubuntu has just gone way downhill over the years and there are far better options out there. You just can't beat the stability you get with Mint. I'm an extremely advanced Linux user and I still opt for Mint for the stability factor alone.

@Fran65 That's great. I'm a Server and Database Administrator as well as full stack developer and run an IT and Software company. Enjoy Ubuntu.
