Ubuntu Pre-Installation disk won't install on XPS1330

What happens if you type 'live' at the boot prompt and then press enter? Did you check which version of the iso you downloaded, intel or nvidia?

Does the prompt just sit at ready, and nothing happens?

Thanks for your post.

I downloaded the NVidia ISO image as i have an NVidia card on my system.

When i type 'live' it does exactly the same thing.

Yep sits at the propmt and doesn't move. I've left it sitting there for approx an hour and still nothing.

OK, have you tried a bog standard Ubuntu CD from their website, and tried to run it in Live mode?

For boot into Live CD image type 'live' and then press ENTER.

To boot to the hard drive type 'hd' and then press ENTER.

On pressing enter the following happens

Ready.

Anyone have any ideas whats wrong???

Have you tried booting into the Live CD and then clicking on the install icon from within the Live desktop?

Have you tried either Ubuntu 8.04.1 Live CD or Alternate Install CD from http://www.ubuntu.com?

Please keep in mind that Gutsy (Ubuntu 7.10) is now outdated.
