Wirelss problems on E1505N with Ubuntu

I just got one of the new Dell Linux laptops and I am unable to connect to my wireless network with the installed NetworkManager.

It prompts me for a passphrase and then the key manager prompts me for a password. At that point it silently fails. The keymanager holds the correct value.

I have a windows laptop that is able to connect to the same wireless network so I know the network works. A wired connection also works without any problem. The wireless card shows up as eth1 when I run ifconfig.

Any and all help in tracking down this problem is greatly appreciated.

There could be several things causing this issue, but the most common one I have seen involves having WEP or WPA encryption set up on a non-broadcasting SSID. If you post more details of your network configuration to this thread, I or another one of the forum members should be able to direct you to the appropriate resources.

You are probably correct. I think the problem is the network at work and not my machine because I'm able to connect at home without any problem at all.

I'll ping my network people at work to get more details.

Thanks for the quick reply and sorry for the vagueness of my post. I was at hour 3 of pulling my hair out when I wrote it.

I have the same problem with my wireless network. I first had encryption on, but after I can't connect to it, I turned it off and I can't still connect to my network. I'm using a NetGear WGR614v6 wireless router. I'm able to connect to my neighbor's wireless network but not mine. My Windows laptop can get on the network fine.
