XPS 13 9360: what dock or adaptater ?

It's a way to pass videosignal through USB. There are drivers for Ubuntu and it's pretty stable based on my experience

WD15 doesn't work well also. You can try any with Displaylink. It should works stable enough. For example "plugable.com/.../" might works well but I haven't tested it

"Officially unsopported" doesn't mean that it'll not work. I haven't tried Plugable but I hope it'll work because it's a displaylink and it's officially support Linux www.displaylink.com/.../ubuntu

I don't understand why people post wrong information on a support forum. First of all, there obviously is a reason for it to be not supported. I mean, there must be problems with it if Dell doesn't support it, right? Note that if you go on the displaylink forum you can see the reason: the current displaylink driver for Linux is a nightmare, it uses from 5% up to 75% of the CPU just to mirror the desktop on another monitor. It's that bad and my guess is that Dell doesn't support the displaylink devices under Linux for this reason. I got a D1000 and it works better without the displaylink drivers even if that means that the video outputs don't work.

I talked about Plugable device, not Dell. I don't think that Dell officially support any Dock under Linux. But they said officially that drivers is available

Maybe it consumes some CPU power. Maybe it's much more than enough. But from my daily experience I even didn't realize it

With Dell WD15 (TB3 dock) configuration with only one screen didn't work for me. From time to time it works. But for example hotplug will freeze laptop.

It's only my experience. And maybe it exists good TB3 dock or adapter that works.

I'm just waiting for Dell to fix Linux TB3 support (support said that Dell works on it but they don't have any ETA)

No look, this is not "some CPU power", this is the vast majority of the CPU in some cases at the point that the gpu output can lag. Just read the DisplayLink forum, it's ridiculous. I strongly suggest to go with thunderbolt 3 adapter and only one screen and wait for DisplayLink to publish better drivers before buying a dock station.

I can confirm that this Plugable USB-c dock works great (Haven't tried all ports, but keyboard, mouse, single external screen via hdmi and power all work fine)
