Hi Rodrigo,

   Thanks for your response.  I followed your suggestions but to no avail.

The download at the link supplied is the same that I already have installed1.8.1.71, also states latest update.

However, the update notification is telling me to download the latest update which states is 1.9.0.22.

Will probably wait now until I have put Win10 on in about 6 months once all the bugs have been ironed out.

Hello, 

There could be something blocking the update. For example, your antivirus or firewall settings. You could try to disable the firewall/Antivirus settings and run the update again. You could also reinstall the Alien Respawn application with the latest version. Click here for the Alien Respawn download link.

I have tried all that has so far been recommended but still get the same result.

Going to the download site tells me that 1.8 is the latest download (which is the one I have), but the notification box in alien respawn tells me that update 1.9 is available and to download it.

Boy!  Am I frustrated right now. can someone please help?  Is 1.9.0.22 the latest version or is just

a ghost message???

Hi all.

 

Got the same issue … (i.e. got 1.8.170 premium and upgrade link to 1.9.0.22 starts and then disappears – no error Msg or any failure indication I can find

 

Generally, I’m not impressed with this App.  The previous version was better than the current and the “next” version does not even install properly! – Seriously going backwards here …

 

I’m using Paragon HDM Pro for primary backup (this Dell app is really only to keep the original factory install available).

 

I love my AW machine, but this App is a real disappointment …

I had to go back to 1.7.5.64 to get the Data Backup to work on my M17 with Win 7.

I wouldn't bother. Alien Respawn is not particulary good software. I had various problems with it, at one stage I even had a message that my operating system is not compatible! (Win 8.1). There are many better backup tools. I have been using Paragon Backup And Recovery Free for many years, excellent, but there are at least half a dozen similar free tools. Typically free version would be somewhat less powerfull then full, paid version, so check carefully what your needs are. For me Paragon is completely sufficient: it does backups of full disk or selected folders, does full disk imaging in case of total system crash (including hidden partitions), works very well on network (backups to NAS (Network Attached Storage) are easy), allows to create bootable emergency USB or CD, very stable... so why bother with Respawn?

My first M17 was running Win 7 and I had no problems with any of the programmes.  I did have the Tech out 5 times in 5 months then Dell decided to replace the machine.  The new one came with Win 8.  The biggest problem we have here ion Aust. is that we don't get discs with our purchases and apparently not entitled to them. I have tried to obtain them through Dell and sort advice through the forum but no luck.  If ever I purchase a new Alienware I will be doing a complete system backup before I do anything else.

Hi Belherman,

  You have "hit the nail on the head" so to speak.  I think my house is haunted and it has somehow rubbed off onto my M17.  I feel somewhat at ease that someone else is getting identical results and like you, I use it for all the Factory settings because I don't want to go through the hassles of trying to get them from Dell again.

Will wait and see if someone can come up with a remedy to our problem.

I"m having the same problem.  I've given up.  Maybe they'll get it right on the next update.
