Alienware 17 R2 CPU throttling
I have a problem with my laptop. When I start it it locks CPU @ 800MHz and 8x multiplier, no matter what the load is. I've tried FireStrike test and Guild Wars 2 and it has been 800MHz flat. When I plug AC adapter out and in again, it goes back to normal frequency and multiplier (3.2~3.5GHz and x33-35 under load) when I run default "High Performance" power plan and "Desktop mode" is disabled. When I use balanced power plan it works even better because it goes anywhere from 800MHz - 3.5GHz depending on actual load. High performance goes to the limit all the time. I keep balanced power plan for couple of days and check if there is a difference in boot behavior. I've already updated BIOS to A02 which suppose to solve this kind of issues. Is there any other fix or is it something wrong with the laptop itself?

If you change the power plan without unplugging and replugging the ac adapter does it work?

Hey Milena,
Yes it does. First I tried booting with balanced power plan but CPU was stuck @800MHz same way as with high performance plan. When I switch plan it starts working fine. Do you plan any fix for that?

Try performing a clean boot just to check if there is a program running in the back ground that might be causing the system to slow down.
