Alienware 17 R4 BIOS Recovery
Updating to 1.0.9 on a new Alienware 17 R4 (Kaby Lake) appears to have bricked my BIOS, giving me a 7 beep error code. Because it was working before the BIOS update, I'm convinced that it's the BIOS that's the issue and not the CPU (but I could be wrong). Does anyone know the key sequence to get into BIOS recovery on this unit? I get keyboard and AlienFX lighting when the computer powers on, but no display, and the unit restarts 4-5 times before I get the beep code. Based on what I've researched, this makes me think that the BIOS boot block isn't damaged, making it possible to recover.

It appears that the 1.0.9 BIOS is for Skylake is equivalent to the 1.0.1 BIOS for Kaby Lake, therefore downgrading from the 1.0.2 BIOS that came with the computer to 1.0.1 which may have caused it to become unusable. I'd like to upgrade it back to 1.0.2 but can't figure out a way how. I think this would resolve the issue that I'm running into.

Hi,
S1.0.9 = For Skylake Processors, Bios version will be 1.0.9
K1.0.1 = For Kabylake Processors, Bios version will be 1.0.1
Before updating any Bios, verify which version the system has installed and confirmed you are going to do an upgrade and not a downgrade.

Also - make sure to TURN OFF performance mode in your existing BIOS before flashing or it'll also brick the laptop. Found this out the hard way on my also 2day old R4.
Bummer there's no clear CMOS jumper visible anymore, it might've saved a technician trip.

I am having this same issue with alienware 17 r3 I updated my bios to 1.3.12...
Mine restarts 3 times then will lighting and no display and then 7 beeps. Can an alienware rep please help me? How auto-recover the bios? Please help!
