Alienware 17.3 laptop AMD graphics driver problems

So I've been trying to play a game (shadows of mordor) which has been crashing on me, I found out through some searching that it has to do with my graphics cards, the laptop came with 2. The intel graphics 4600 works fine but the AMD radeon series keeps malfunctioning, I'm trying to primarily use that one for the game, but everytime i try to install a AMD graphics card driver it fails, my computer screen goes black, restarts itself when i try to install an AMD graphics driver. How do I proceed from here? I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the driver itself in device manager, nothing seems to be working...
