Hi, I had a similar issue where both AlienFx lights would start glowing as soon as I turned the console on but they would go dark after booting into the Alpha UI. To fix it all I had to do was to manually put the console into Sleep mode via the Alpha UI menu Power->Sleep and then wake it up. The lights have been working again ever since.
I believe the cause for me was that the console was in sleep mode when I lost power, and the issue with the lights started happening the next time I powered it on (after the power was restored). I think there is an issue with the Alpha UI where it attempts to "know" the state that the AlienFX lights should be in, and sometimes it gets it wrong.
In that case you can go to the windows mode and uninstall the command center from the control panel, then download the latest version you find in the Dell website and install it.
If that doesn’t fix the problem you might need to run an Alienrespawn.
Mine is fixed now. I did the same thing. Put it in sleep then woke it back up. I didn't know that was what fixed it but if we both had the same issue and the same fix I am sure that's it. Thanks for the help.
i have this problem it was working fine then i restarted my alpha and it just stopped working and i even enabled the administrator account it work for 5 minutes then stopped (i dont have the alpha UI since it kept being a pain in the *** to log out of it and go on windows 8.1 all the time so i just deleted the alpha ui but that was the first day i got it which was almost a month ago)
i have the same problem but mine wont install it or anything dell sent me a copy of windows 8.1 but didnt give me my product key and i cant find it anywhere on my system and it ask for my product key as soon as i got to install windows 8.1 so either way im in a bind and i cant use my windows 8.1 pro key since its already been used on 7 computers (well 3 but they ended up failing or just died)

Please let me know how it goes.
