Alienware Alpha HDMI 120hz ??? possible?
Hi
Can anybody help me to reach 120hz on alienware alpha HDMI? I have read that with 1.4hdmi it is possible and it supports 1920×1080 resolution at 120 Hz. But i cant find how to get it. I have in control panel maked custom resolution with 120hz but without success -> it shows "input not supported" on the black screen
My monitor is Acer GN246HLBbid 144hz
Thanks everybody for answer...

Thanks for your post, it seems that problem is, that my monitor does not support 120hz via hdmi but only dvi-d... (Alienware Alpha is only hdmi)
But i have an idea which should (or not? :D ) work.
What do you think about this dvi-d female ? Will it work ?

We can't assure that it'll work as it's a 3rd party device and we support mainly straight cable connections.
However, you could give it a try and let us know if it did work for you.

I suggest you shoot for "working" and not 120hz support.
I don't think HDMI v1.x outputs much over 1080p/60hz. HDMI ports on computers are largely "un-defined" unless Dell can give you spec. Is it HDMI v2.x ? ... I doubt it. It's not like this is consumer AV we are talking about.
For connecting to HDTV (and AVR) ... use HDMI. It will auto-negotiate the best link. Use non-Redmere, high quality cables.
For computer LCDs, better to use DVI or DisplayPort.
