Alienware Alpha
Ordered the Alienware Alpha Base with the following accessories, (1) case, (2) logitech K400 keyboard (3)Ext slot DVD Drive, #'s 2 and three are redundant. The unit is still in production and won.t be shipped until late in November. It also comes with windows 8.1, bad idea and only 8GB of RAM no idea if the unit has expansion slots for higher GB of RAM. I will be cancelling the order but according to Dell there will be re-stocking fees, RIP-OFF. I also have a Dell XPS 8700 Gaming Tower and very happy with it.

Hi Eric,
The Alienware Alpha has 2 DIMM and supports up to 16GB DDR3l.
It's easy to upgrade, check out this video for more information.

Can anyone tell me why Dell did not include DVD/RW drive in the Alienware Alpha like Xbox1 and PS4, you have to buy an External slot DVD Drive. And what is up with re-stocking fees?.

Our engineering team found that there is no need for disc drives as most games can be downloaded now. As for re-stocking fees, that is standard for all Dell Products.

The purpose of the Alpha is to act as a "internet box". Meaning, most of the games will be downloaded and installed using an online service. So no need for an internal optical disk drive. You may always use an external CD drive to load games.
