Alienware Aurora i7 975 overclock with a04 bios
hello.
i have an i7 975 and an alienware aurora with native a04 bios.
in the bios, i select the "voltage" page and then i have the "non turbo core" multiplier set to 25. i can take it down but not up. all i can do is to manage with the "intel turbo boost" and turn the values of all the 4 cores up..
is it normal? i thought that i should change only the main multiplier so i could also disable the turbo boost.
please help me.

good to know. i think that it is because of the motherboard model. i have an alienware 0h869m.
the bad thing is that i can't turn up the multi while disabling the turbo boost technology. they could at least advise the consumers.

Can't say whether it is "normal" or not but my Aurora acts the same way (also have the i7 975 and A04 BIOS).

Those instructions did not work for me. I could not alter many of the variables given by Chris. I think that is what people are paying the $200 overclocking fee for. It must be for unlocking the BIOS (which is advertised in a misleading way saying it is already unlocked for overclocking -- well some settings are but nothing material).

same problem here....message chris about it but yea....seems like the multi is locked but the turbo mode multis are not. I guess this is their way of allowing people to overclock but not have them running at that speed/voltage all the time for longevity of the system. I currently have my computer stress testing at 4.0ghz using the turbo mode oc method. Not ideal i'd say but better than nothing?
