Alienware aurora r3 issues
Hey guys, I have an alienware aurora r3, with an I7 9200K, 2 tera bits in raid 1+0, nvidia 560ti, 12gbs ram,sound blaster titanium sound card, and windows 7 64 bit. I bought it new from dell and hooked it up christmas day. It ran great for the first 5 days. After that I would play, skyrim, or dead island and it would lock up. Well it doesn't really matter which game. I get anywhere from 20 mintues in to 45 minutes in and the game freezes. I usually have to hard restart, which has led to the raid becoming degraded until it finally failed. I got on the phone with dell and they helped me restore the raid setup and reinstall windows. I figured maybe it was a fluke deal, however it is still doing it. I can only play my favorite games for around 30 minutes before it locks up and the speakers make a horrible noise. All the drivers and software on my computer are up to date. Every time the raid degraddes it is the first hard drive. I am very frustrated that I have spend this money on a gaming computer that cannot game. I am writing on here to see if anybody has any suggestions as to what the problem could be or to where I can start looking. Thanks alot and any help would be appreciated.

Glad you got yours working ...
However, in following this problem ... different things seem to work for different machines ... very strange. I've read here of the following things fixing it:
RAM brands
RAM placement configs
RAM voltages and speeds
Clean Windows installs
Fixing minor over-heat problems (processors and video-cards)
Turning off Over-Clocks or under-clocking
The R3 MotherBoard seems to be very sensitive. Notice they didn't waste any time replacing it with R4.
Did you happen to try clean installing Windows and load the latest Intel SandyBridge chipset drivers (preferably first ... before the other drivers)? If chipset drivers were "broken" ... that would look like a flakey MB, right?

By the way ... by doing that it prevents one or possibly both banks of RAM from running in Dual Channel mode. By dropping the total RAM bandwidth ... it can run stable.

did anyone tried with 8gb ram kit ? how is it goin with the r3 ?
