Alienware Aurora R3 Power Supply Issue?
I got an Alienware Aurora R3 on November 8th but on November 28th I started having issues with it.
When I went to turn it on that day the computer started, fans blasted really loudly but there was no feedback on the monitors and eventually the computer shut itself down, after that pressing the power button provided no feedback whatsoever, no lights, no fan, nothing on screen.
I guessed this was a power supply issue but I called Dell Tech Support anyway and they suggested that I pulled all the computer out, took out the graphics card, RAM, optical drive and harddrive and proceeded to boot it without anything in, which then worked fine so I plugged everything back in and the computer was working fine for a day or two.
Only problem was, then it happened again, and again, sometimes twice a day it's happening now and the only way I can seem to fix it is if I unplug everything, start it with no hardware in the computer, turn it off and then plug everything back in.
Sometimes the computer even shuts itself down when I'm using it and it won't turn back on.
Does anyone have any ideas what's causing this because the Dell Tech Support didn't really seem to have a clue either? I'm thinking power supply but the guy on the phone keeps telling me that it's not.

Could be the PSU or maybe the motherboard. If it is under warranty then try to get them to replace the motherboard.

Hi
I bought my first Alienware two weeks ago, which I was, until now, very happy of, especially the upgrade potential. It seems they sold me a refurbished AURORA R3, that is still under guarantee.
It is a ix2600 with 6GB RAM and 2 x 450 GTS NVIDIA.
Until yesterday, I had no issues what so ever.
But yesterday, after 15 hours of use, my computer shut down !
When I tried rebooting, I had all the fans at maximum power but no response other than that. Then I shut down and it didn't want to boot anymore.
The following day (now), it just booted and I'm working on it normally.
I'm worried that I might damage it by using it in this state.
I've done some research and saw some articles about power pin connectors. However, how can I know which cable is plugged in, to check if they are connected correctly ?
Isn't this rather a high temperature issue ?
Thank you
Regards
