Alienware Aurora R4 - continuous single beep no POST
My computer started beeping the other night. I was able to restart it and it worked fine. Now, it did it again, but this time, it appears dead.
One continuous beep that continues indefinitely.
I have tried unplugging everything, replacing power supply, pulling out RAM, replacing video card, etc. with no luck. I also unplugged the unit, held in power button for 30 seconds and tried to reboot... same thing.
I assume that it is the motherboard? Could it be anything else? My system is a late-2011 with a 07JNH0 motherboard.
If it's the motherboard, can I replace it with any R4 motherboard? I can't seem to find anything on the Dell web page, so I assume I have to search for used ones and I need to know which ones would work.
System is not even 3 years old yet (purchased Dec, 2012) ! Please help!

I searched the forum here for 'Aurora beep code' (or try 'Aurora beep' / 'R4 beep'):
One beep is for related 'mthrbrd failure'. Whether yours failed or not I do not know.
From Tesla:
Systems turns on and beeps repeatedly
6 Beeps Warning: If you have dual video cards you must connect your screen to the bottom video card otherwise the system may give you 6 beeps.
7jnh0 & fpv4p are the typical part#'s for R4 mthrbrds; you can use either, but 7jn is the revision2 board I believe. here in the USA we find them on eBay when Dell is out of stock, or run the part#'s through bing/google. try the search box, go through some old posts, there might be last-resort troubleshooting u can try

I replaced my board with one of the boards you recommended. It fixed the problem.
However, Slot 2 on the replacement board is dead. My old system was 4X2GB. Does anyone know if I could buy a 2X8GB set and run them only in slots 3 and 4?

I'm glad to know you're back in b'ness but sorry to hear your board isn't perfect. I hope you looked into a replacement, exchange, refund, or adjustment from the seller.
I searched 'Aurora R4 maximum memory', got some hits:
2x8 & 4x8 is supported from what I read. 1600MHz minimum speed is basically a given, with the possibility that 2133MHz might work, if 16Gb max, so I read. If it were me, I'd buy 2133, then try to get it to post at 1600, if good, try 1866, if good try 2133. Those changes are made in the bios. I'm running 4x2Gb @ 1866 myself.
