Alienware Aurora R4 Memory Upgrade
Running into an issue upgrading my system from 4x2Gb uDIMMS (2GB 1Rx8 PC2-12800U) that came with my system to a 4x8Gb kit. I purchased the Patriot Viper kit off of Amazon, and installed it today. The system will not boot when only the Patriot memory is installed (no beeps, just turns on with a blank screen), but it will boot with an old dimm installed in slot 1, and slots 2-4 populated with the patriot dimms.
Here's the info on the DIMMs that I purchased:
Patriot Viper III Extreme Performance 32 GB 1600MHz (PC3 12800) DDR3 Memory Kit PV332G160C9QKBL
- 1.5V
- PC3-12800 (1600MHz)
- 9-9-9-24
- Intel 6, 7 and 8 series
- XMP 1.3 Certified
I've done a few searches, but most people I've seen with issues were installing memory with a higher clockrate. The motherboard model is 07jnh0 rev a00, and BIOS version is A11. I've also tied resetting the BIOS to default, changing the memory voltage, manually setting some of the memory values (specifically the 9-9-9-24). Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hello Oouter!
Thank you for your question.
The upgrade you are inquiring about seems to have the required specifications for it to work just fine. The Alienware Aurora R4 supports memory type Quad Channel DDR3 1600 MHz and Quad Channel DDR3 2133 MHz XMP.
Our recommendation would be to test one Patriot Viper memory stick at the time and see if the system boots properly.
Please let us know the results.
