Alienware command center button

Hi all.

Just wondering if anyone else was suffering this issue and if there were any fixes out there. My command center software works perfectly all the time i want to load it. My button strip ALL work apart from the command center button. My OSD works for every button apart from the CC.

I've tried re-installing the OSD software, I've re-installed the CC software, neither of which seem to have made any difference. I cant seem to find anywhere where i can change the buttons function and finally when i first had the machine it worked perfectly. All I've done since getting the machine is running windows updates and installing some of my games.

Please guys help me fix this, its annoying that out of the whole PC this is the only thing that's not working and I'm sure its a software issue that's causing the niggle.

Cheers

Scott

Which version of the ACC are you using? I know one of the version ( A07 V2.5.54.0) says it fixed this issue in the release notes. You may just need to have the newest version of ACC installed.

Hello Ziffel79,

* First uninstall the command center and restart your system

* Uninstall the OSD driver from the programs and features.

* Power drain your system, shut down the pc, unplug all the external devices including the power cord, press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds.

* Reinstall the latest version of the command center from the Drivers and Downloads website.

* Restart your system.

* Reinstall the OSD driver.

Cheers.

I've followed all the steps to the letter still not made any difference to the issue.

I've downloaded the latest version of the OSD AND ACC from dells website. Uninstalled them both, deleted all alienware folders and files related to ACC and then re-installed each piece of software individually as requested.

Any other options?

No real solution was provided, although a few months after i did fully re-install the machine from scratch, original windows 7 software then all the utilities and drivers and for a while if memory serves it DID actually work. However upon testing it the other night its back to not doing anything again.

I believe the true cause of the fault is either a software, driver or library (.net etc) conflict with other items on the machine. Personally as the software works if run through the windows OS and due to my current lack of time I can't be bothered to work out what it is and do dells work for them.

If it bothers you that much, I'd recommend using the restore partition to revert the machine back to factory settings. If that still doesn't resolve the issue and you're under warranty sort out RTB to have the machine fixed. If you're out of warranty, try fresh install with non dell branded windows discs and then install everything step by step checking what causes the button not to work.

Good Luck

You're absolutely right ,all things that you describe happen also to me, if you make a setup from the scratch you'll see it working and also if you make a full system restoration with software like Acronis TI , it works like a charm, I happen to have one copy but since then I have changed so many things and software that it's just not worth it.And i really mean that.I just can't believe a so well oriented company cannot find what's wrong there....and yes of course I will stick to using the icon instead.....!
