Alienware Command Center
Hi Dell,
Could you please fix Alienware Command Center so it works smoothly with Windows 8.1. It says it's completable with Windows 8, but it's clearly not. My bios is up to date and so is all my drivers. However, EVERYTIME there's an update for Windows 8.1 Alienware Command Center stops working. There is a fix for it, which I will go into in a minute, but I shouldn't have to do this EVERYTIME there's an update. Everything else works fine. So, please fix this issue for me and anyone else who might be having this problem.
The problem is this: Fan control stops working, ambient temperatures stops working, and so does changing the lights on the PC. There isn't a problem with my motherboard as it gets resolved with my fix. So, this must be a compatibility issue. Please fix it or can you point me to a third party software, which allows me to control fan speed, lights, etc.
Here is the fix: Uninstall Alienware CC and then shut it fully down. Turn it back on let it boot up and reinstall Alienware CC. When asked to restart your computer click on "No" and then fully shutdown your machine again. Turn it on again and this will fix your issue. I've done this twice after two Windows 8.1 updates and its worked both times. I hope this helps someone and I hope Alienware fixes this issue.

Yes, that's the one I'm using. Like I said all my drivers and bios are up-to-date.

When it screws up it doesn't run in the background and it does launch. It just doesn't work. I know this because, on, occasion the fans are going at 100%. Also, Windows 8 was launched in 2012 and now its 2014 these issues shouldn't be still present. I mean Windows 9 is coming out next year if we're still having problems with this OS what will Alienware CC be like when that launches?

Windows 8.1 was released a while ago, since we did not ship our systems with that O.S embedded we need to work on compatibility for our main components and a new service pack. The Windows 8 version of the command center works flawlessly. I'll pass on the feedback. You can also create a thread on Ideastorm.com.
